The prompt for the project was “to create a one room study for an individual to engage with a personal collection”. My collection started as clocks and became abstracted into the collection of time. The pavilion is a device for the occupant to track different types of lighting qualities within different types of spaces as a way to keep track of time. In the plan the spiraling progression leads the occupant to a center space. The movement through the pavilion becomes a type of ritualistic expression for the occupant. Once in the center conical volume the top of the form is sheared to block any shadows from hitting the interior wall. The shadows which were so apparent throughout the progression are eliminated and for the viewer, time stops.
